Creative State Wins ENMISA Award

Creative State: Forty Years of Migration and Development Policy in Morocco and Mexico by Natasha Iskander has been named cowinner (with Globalizing Citizenship by Kim Rygiel) of the 2011 ENMISA Distinguished Book Award. The award citation reads:

“This book offers a fascinating comparison of the emigration policies
of two states which are economically relatively underdeveloped
compared with their northern neighbors. Based on extensive fieldwork
including interviews and archival research, Iskander recounts
government efforts to utilize emigrants and describes the myriad ways
in which migrants from Mexico and Morocco changed their communities
of origin and ultimately transformed the societies they left.”

Congratulations!
